John E Adams: Thanks for the info Don. Will give it a peek! I can understand needing the ability to control the production - which is why I asked. No immediate need for me now but you never know. I can't even give away an Animoto these days - just use it for some fun and high tech marketing spam to dangle every once in a while -;0) (April 17 2010, 08:17PM)

Don: I checked it out. Love the pics. I use the entire Final Cut Suite of products and would never use anything else. Early on I tried Pro Show and then we considered Animoto, but for us, it just didn't work - too limiting and repetitious and we needed something that was entirely original. It was like shooting pictures with a P&S camera - no control. My wife has a wedding business and she hand builds all her albums (no templates etc) and she wanted video slideshows that reflected the same "hand built" approach. I wanted video/slideshows that interacted with the music and vice versa, and there was no way Pro Show or Animoto could do that. But, we have a friend who uses Animoto and loves it. It's all a matter of how dynamic you want the show to be; but I needed something that was more than randomly synced music to a slideshow. On the other hand, there is no way we could sell a slideshow made from Final Cut for the same price as one made from Animoto. It is, however, a STEEP learning curve and LOTS of time but you can control every second of the video and music. If you've not checked it out, it's incredible. (April 17 2010, 01:27PM)

John E Adams: An excellent piece Don. What do you use to build/edit these? I have dabbled with and been a member of Animoto since they opened - not real productive with anything however - they do a beautiful job however take a peek at one of mine at: http://animoto.com/play/iqdfabRRCNjZlXkPAsyDnw Cheers, John (April 17 2010, 11:02AM)
